Aims

To provide a safe swimming environment for disabled people of all ages and disabilities

To teach and improve members abilities’ to swim and increase confidence and self esteem

To improve the health of our members

To provide an opportunity for people with disabilities to socially interact and feel less isolated

To provide a service that enables some respite for carers

To provide an opportunity for volunteers to train to become qualified swimming instructors for our members

Objectives
-
To provide a weekly supervised swimming session at Q.E Leisure Centre, to ensure members can swim in a safe and friendly environment. Swimming includes all aquatic activities eg diving, water games and associated activities, whether in or out of the water

To provide swimming lessons and water therapy by qualified instructors

To provide social events in addition to the swimming, including; skittles, boat trips, tractor trailer rides, Christmas meals and parties

To provide the opportunity to participate in Galas

To provide a quarterly newsletter produced for members

To ensure that supervision and support for members is provided in the swimming sessions to enable respite for carers
-
To provide funded training via STA for volunteers to become qualified swimming instructors
